This car has:
Traction control, stability control, a steel cage,
an extra battery, ABS, GPS, ATD and 8 airbags.
(So if you ever have a problem Tim, it’s probably your own fault.)

The sellers were in tears.  The buyers, well, see bellow….

Mr and Mrs Irwin Sidman extolling the Volvo’s virtues to Tim the buyer.
Dr Ron says:  "This is beginning to feel like Thanksgiving dinner at my parents’ house.
Give them the check, take the car, and let’s get out of here!!!".

Cool VW Euro Sedan for $9,500

2004 VW PASSAT GLS TURBO 37,000 MILES, $9,500.

Moon roof, auto stick, ASR, 6 airbags, heated seats.
Gorgeous gold car with black interior.
Dr. Ron is astounded that for under $10k
you can have a low mileage European car with such high tech options.
ASR is skid control.
Auto stick is an automatic transmission that can be shifted like a stick for fun.
6 airbags is, well 6 airbags (more than Dr. Ron’s car has).
The seller was a retired attorney in Litchfield County, CT.
She bought it new,
and had every single piece of original paperwork and service record available.
She showed us around her home,
introduced us to her hunting dogs,
and showed us her new Lexus and Audi…enough said.

Bumper to bumper warranty and emergency roadside assistance included!
Warranty is good until 7/15/2012 or 100,000 miles.

Maintenance records available.
Selling because moving overseas.

I purchased it in Virginia in 2003 and drove it immediately to Massachusetts.
I was completing my Postdoc at Brandeis.
I then moved to RI to assume a new teaching position.
Mass
and RI are the main locations. No accidents.
There are a few minor scratches.
I got an estimate on what it would cost to remove those and $300 is the estimate I received.
I checked on that because they are noticeable if you are OCD like me,
but otherwise they’re not noticeable.

2005 Saab Turbo with Warranty, $8,600.

18 06 2009

Stick, Moonroof Heated, Leather, Six Air Bags.

2005 Saab 9-3 2.0T ARC, 86,000 miles, $8,600.

Larson wanted a sporty Euro or Japanese car with a
manual transmission, leather, and a sunroof for under $8,000.
Because Dr. Ron only buys clean,
tight cars for clients, this search presented a problem.
The answer would of course be a Saab or a Volvo. (Great cars; bargains used).

"Hi Ron.  It’s Larson calling.
Wanted to tell you that I am driving my 2005 Saab Turbo home right now.
I absolutely love it.  It is an amazing car.
Thank you so much for all your help, and especially for finding this great deal.
It is exactly what I was looking for."

Great Grandma’s Great Honda

21 01 2009

How hard does a ninety year old drive a car?

2005 Honda Accord EX-L Sedan $12,000, 39,000 miles.

This was my mother’s car. She bought it new in Florida.
I have the window sticker and the purchase invoice.
She kept receipts for EVERYTHING!. Including her car.
She died in May so we’re looking to sell it.
You can only drive (and pay insurance on ) so many cars.
She went to the honda dealer for everything. Oil changes.
Transmission flush, you name it. All the receipts are in the glove box.
The title is clear, changed into my name a month or so ago .
I just got it in the mail 2 weeks ago.
The car is in excellent condition. No accidents or repairs since purchased.
Driver airbag, Anti-Lock brakes, Air conditioning, Alloy wheels, Cruise control,
CD changer, Passenger air bag, Rear window defroster, Heated seats,
Leather seats, Power door locks, Power mirrors, Power windows, Power steering,

California Honda Never Seen Winter

21 01 2009

Efficient one owner Civic.

2005 Honda Civic LX Sedan, 40k, $9,000

I purchased this car NEW in 2005 from a dealership in California.
It’s never had a winter with snow so it is in fantastic condition (we just moved here).
I have never had a problem with this car (I love Hondas).
We are selling the civic because we are now students.
This car has had all scheduled maintenance.

Midwives Deliver!!!

19 01 2009

Another Cool Gen-Y Box.

2006 Scion xB. Stick, MP3 input, 32,000 miles,  $10,000.
One Year left on Toyota Power Train Warranty.  Clean title no lien.

We bought it new and are only selling it because we don’t want two cars any longer.
My wife is a midwife and drives the car; I take the T.

Kelly wanted a stick, hatchback, fuel economy, and Toyota quality,
so Dr Ron looked into the haystack and pulled out this gem.

Grandma Moved Back to Japan - Left Scion xA.

19 01 2009

11,000 Grandma Miles on Cool Gen X Scion.

2006 Scion xA with iPod jack and warranty.  11,000 miles, $8,900.

"Hello Ron,

My mother (68 yrs old) bought the car new in 2006, but she never liked
driving, so she didn’t accumulate a lot of mileage. She moved back to
her home country to retire, this spring and left the car to us to
sell. She really wanted us to buy the car off of her, but we already
have 4 cars, so we don’t need another car. We only put it on the
market now because it took forever for CT DMV to transfer the title
to us. We use it here and there whenever one of our cars in service or
what not, but it’s mostly in the garage. The car is like brand new
without exaggeration. It’s in perfect condition. I don’t think you can
find another used car that is as new as this one for this price.

Thanks,
Chika"

AWD Fun in Toyota Matrix

19 01 2009

AWD Toyota Matrix, 65,000 miles, $10,000

2005 AWD Toyota Matrix 65,000 miles, $10,000

This car was bought new, it has no dents or dings and is in excellent shape.
The reason for selling was the owner bought a 2010 VW Passat Diesel
which gets 45 miles to the gallon.
The Matrix gets around 30 miles to the gallon.
Every thing is in good condition, just had new front brakes installed and the oil changed.
The car came from cow country in upstate New York
When Monica and Dr. Ron went to pick up the car
they figured it had never seen a traffic jam in its life.
The only businesses along the road were ATV dealers.

3,000 Miles and 38MPG

19 01 2009

You can park this car ANYWHERE.

2008 Toyota Yaris Hatchback $10,000, 3,100 miles.

This 2008 Toyota Yaris 3dr Liftback Hatchback
features a 1.5L 16V 4cyl Gasoline engine.
3100 miles on the clock and superb condition inside and outside.
The car has only been used to drive to the train station and back.
Only one owner.
This car gets great gas mileage,
on average City MPG 29 miles and Highway MPG 35 miles.
Air Conditioning, Electronic Power Steering, Clock,
Tilt Steering Wheel, Driver and Passenger Airbags,
Rear Defogger, Intermittent Wipers,
AM-FM, MP3/CD Player with IPod/AUX connector.
Must see and test drive to appreciate!
The seller moved closer to the train station so no longer needs the car.

$9,300 Toyota Matrix Clone

19 01 2009

Pontiac Vibe built in a Toyota factory - $9,300

2005 Pontiac Vibe with 53,981 miles for $9,300.

This is not a six speed 185 Horsepower beast like the Matrix above.
But just like a base Matrix, it has a Toyota Corolla engine,
transmission, and all other mechanicals.
It’s not your uncle’s Pontiac.
Dr. Ron knows how to buy Toyotas at Pontiac prices….
Other good bets are Chevy Prizms and Chrysler cars with Mitsubishi power trains.
Iona should be happy.

AWD Toyota Matrix with CPO Warranty.

19 01 2009

Two Years and 40,000 miles remaining on Toyota CPO Warranty.

2005 Toyota Matrix XR AWD. 61,000 miles. $8,500.

David the seller was a non-smoking High School science teacher in Long Island, NY.
He delivered the car to Yotam upstate.

This car was a bargain.
It spent its first five years in Suffolk County where there is little road salt.
It did have a dent and a cracked tail light,
but Yotam plans to load it with firewood,
and drive the dirt roads of Columbia County NY.

All-in-all this is just what the buyer wanted:
Best fuel economy of any AWD vehicle, Toyota quality, and a bargain.

Grandma’s Toyota Corolla With Only 15,000 miles

19 01 2009

$6,600 Garaged since new

2003 Toyota Corolla LE.  15,500 miles, $6600.

Automatic, A/C, Power everything. 37 MPG from the 4 cylinder motor.
"My aunt’s neurologist at the nursing home said she should stop driving,
since she bumped into the building twice last month."
Peter and Tara needed a small reliable automatic to rack up lots of miles in CT & MA.
This Toyota fit the bill.

Hot and Fast Nissan Sentra SE-R

19 01 2009

33,000 Miles, Warranty, $9,000

2005 Nissan Sentra SE-R

This is Nissan’s Race line of its bulletproof Sentra model.
This one has a moonroof, side air bags, and an incredible Rockford Stereo.

The car spent most of its life around Atlanta and LA, so no salt, sand or snow.
Harry drove the car 100 miles on the way  home, and said "This car is amazing.
It must have been stored in a barn for the past 4 years.
The engine sounds brand new. "

Six months later Harry says….

"The car is great Ron. It gets 29 mpg in town, and 33 on the Mass Pike.
And this car is super fast too.
I don’t know how Nissan tweaked the SE-R motor, but they sure did a good job."

Six months later Harry says….

Grandpa’s Subaru With Seat Covers Since New

15 01 2009

38,000 Senior Citizen miles bought from estate for $9,600

2002 Subaru Outback LTD AWD Wagon 38,000 miles.
Two moonroofs, Side Air Bags. Heated leather power seats covered since new.

When the executrix of the estate told Dr. Ron
that her father had kept the leather covered since new,
it reminded Ron of his grandmother’s living room furniture always covered in plastic.
When these karmic moments occasionally come up, one needs to jump on the car.
Just what Joanna wanted for commuting to Rockland County.

$9,500 All Wheel Drive Subaru with 55,000 miles.

15 01 2009

Another city car becomes a suburban car.

2005 Subaru Impreza 2.5 RS Wagon.
New brakes and tires.  55,000 miles, $9,500.
This Subaru was driven on Connecticut highways by a packaging salesman,
then sat idle waiting for a buyer.
It will be put to good use on the dirt roads of Berkshire and Columbia Counties.

A Car with Karma

15 01 2009

 62,000 miles, AWD Subaru $7,900.

2002 SUBARU FORESTER-L AWD.
This sought-after Forester “mini – SUV” body style was hard to find with only 62k on a 7 year old car.

The seller was a Yoga Teacher.
The Buyer a Therapist.

The Yoga Teacher delivered it to the family therapist in Great Barrington Mass. She drove him back to Long Island.  Apparently they hit it off, and she gave him her favorite book on couples’ relationships… Dr. Ron charges for car finding, but not for his dating service… You never know.

Dr. Ron’s bookkeeper has the same car and says, "My 95 Subaru has 150k and is still going strong."

Grandpa’s Subaru Driven 4,000 Miles Per Year

14 01 2009

45,000 miles, AWD, $6,300.

1999 SUBARU LEGACY L AWD STATION WAGON.
The car lived in the 80 year old gentlemen’s garage.
How do we know his age?  His DOB was printed on the CT title.
The point here is that this Subaru is fully depreciated, but has barely been used.  And 80 year olds drive gently.
Dr. Ron and his client (the buyer) Dr. Steve got under the car on their backs with a flashlight.  The underbody looked new….

2004 Dodge Ram 1500 HEMI CREW CAB

13 01 2009

This Hemi lived in Florida from 2004-2009.

2004 Dodge Ram 1500 2WD Crew Cab SLT, 40,000 miles, $12,900.

Florida Truck with 5.7 liter HEMI and Dodge Powertrain Warranty.
20 inch alloy wheels, almost new tires, tow package, tranny temperature gauge, and bed liner.
Inside it has heated leather seats, navigation, Infinity sound system,
SIRIUS Satellite Radio compatibility, electrically adjusted pedals, and power everything.

This truck was purchased new in Florida in 2004,
and kept in Florida by the original owner (a Mercedes technician) until July 2009.
I bought the truck from the Ford dealer last summer and brought it up to New England.
So this truck has only had 1 New England winter.
No salt, no sand, no snow, no rust.

This truck has a completely clean, no accident history.
I can email you the AutoCheck report from Experian Credit Reporting.

The truck is in excellent condition inside, outside, and underneath.
Everything works fine. The heat is hot and the AC is cold.
The HEMI runs and sounds awesome.
No accidents no repairs, no issues.
No dents, no dings, no rust.
Still under Factory Warranty.

Clean GMC 4×4 Work Truck.

13 01 2009

Only 8,000 miles per year

2005 GMC 1500 4WD Extended Cab W/T.  46,000 miles, $12,500.

The W/T is supposedly GMC’s bare bones full size pick up,
but this 4 door extended cab truck
has a smooth, efficient 4.8 liter V8, Automatic, A/C, Power locks and windows…
So much for roughing it.

Carl and Kirsten needed a clean, strong,
modern four door 4×4 truck for their carpentry business,
but didn’t want to spend a lot of money.
The best thing they found at a local dealer was a
2005 Ford Ext Cab 4×4 F150 FX4
with 74,000 miles for the low haggled down price of $14,500.
You can say whatever you want about Ford VS GMC and Chevy,
but this gold GMC W/T saved them
30,000 miles (worth $3,000) AND $2,000 cash.
And the seller even brought the car upstate from Long Island
Carl and Kirsten had to make a few car trips
and deal with some faxed paperwork, but the savings made it all worthwhile.

4×4 Dodge Ram 1500 HEMI CREW CAB

13 01 2009

8 Foot Bed with Matching Lear Cap with Sliding Windows.

2004 Dodge Ram 1500 4 x 4 SLT Crew Cab, 75,000 miles, $11,500.

VERY MOTIVATED SELLER. NEEDS IMMEDIATE SALE!!!!!

Sliding cap window, Step Bar, AM/FM/CD Automatic Starter,
Lots of storage, Highway miles, Trip’o’ meter,
new tires, new brakes. Clean Title, Clean on CarFax.

Sam has a family of six, a carpentry business,
and a house high up in the snowy Berkshire hills.
So when he called Dr Ron he said "I need a crew cab,
long bed, and 4×4 in good condition."
This truck came with new brakes and tires,
and was driven 15,000 miles a year for 5 years along I-91 in CT.
The $11,500 price tag was the wholesale (trade in) price for a
similar truck without the Lear cap or the new brakes and tires.
Paul the seller needed to sell in a hurry so he could move
down to Arizona and start a new business.
One man’s loss is an other’s gain.

The Wife Says, “Sell the Truck”

13 01 2009

6,800 mile Ford F-150, $8,500

2007 F150 XL with 6,800  miles for $8,500. 8 foot bed with liner.

The seller Ray was a grandfather living on Cape Cod.
He used the truck occasionally for trips to the dump or to tow his 14 foot sailboat.
Here is the text from his original ad:
"Truck has tow bar and bed liner in the 8 foot bed and is in excellent condition.
Only averaged about 2200 miles per year for the three years that I have owned it.
I am reluctantly selling to buy a second car
because my wife doesn’t like to drive a truck."
If the wife is making the decision, then Dr. Ron likes the car.

39,000 Mile 4×4 Truck for $6,500.

13 01 2009

4X4, V6, stick. Only 39k miles, $6,500. 8 wheels/ 8 tires. Bed liner.
I bought this truck new back in 2000, and never used it to plow or work.
Only thing I ever towed with it was an ATV.
My wife and I used our other vehicles most of the time, so this truck has low miles.

Grandpa’s 4X4 with 46K Miles for $6,500.

13 01 2009

Compact Extended Cab Pickup with Cap.

1997 Chevy S10 LS Extended Cab 4 x 4 Pickup.
Came with Bed Liner, Step Bumper, and matching Cap.
Bought with 45,000 miles for only $6,500.

When Kathleen told Dr. Ron that she and her husband needed a good 4×4 for $6,000,
Dr. Ron was up to the challenge.
When she said it had to be a compact pickup in very good condition,
I considered going back to basic science research.
Where does one find such a vehicle?
The AARP classified?
Anyway we found the truck
so now the Potoski’s can leave their Miata in the garage for the winter.

Terry and her husband needed a truck for towing and dump runs.
This truck had never been used for work. It didn’t even have a tow hitch.

The seller was a Wall Street banker who worked 24/7,
and kept the truck in his suburban garage.

"Thanks for finding us the truck we’ve always wanted!" - Terry.

WW-II vet who pulled many similar stunts behind the wheel
and in and out of hospital parking lots.

This business is getting weird.

On a more serious note:
This is the second car that Pat bought through Dr. Ron. She is a repeat customer

because the $5900 Dodge Stratus with only 4,000 miles worked out so well over the past six years.

$29,000 Car for $7,900.

3 01 2009

V6, Leather, and Mega Head and Leg Room for Paul.

2006 Ford Fusion SEL.
V6, Leather, Six Airbags and Remote Start. 37,000 miles  $7900.

Paul tested out many cars, and found the Fusion most spacious.
He drives about 30,000 miles per year, so comfort is critical.

Paul’s last car was a Lexus,
and Dr. Ron warned him that Ford quality might disappoint following the Lexus.
But Paul checked out all the competition
and found the Fusion design and quality up to Toyota standards.
"Have you driven a Ford lately?"

The seller was a NYC Kindergarten teacher.
She only sold the Fusion so she could buy her daughter’s upside down commuter car
She hit it off with Paul’s wife and delivered the car from NYC to the Berkshires.
The car came with a few NYC dings, scrapes and scratches,
so Paul spent about $1000 maiking it look like new.
Still a great bargain for 100,000 miles of business driving.

Grandpa’s 8 Passenger Cruise Mobile

3 01 2009

Leather, 3 rows of seats, 42,000 miles, $6,500.

2000 Mercury Sable LS Premium 8 passenger wagon.  42,000 miles, $6,500.

Colleen and her sister in law needed an economical, reliable car
with 3 rows of seats for their 5 kids. Grandpa’s wagon fit the bill.

Arizona Grandma’s Nissan

3 01 2009

61,000 Arizona Grandma Miles  $6,250

2002 ALTIMA GXE.  TWO AIRBAGS, ABS, FULL POWER.
After grandma passed away out west, her granddaughter (the seller)
drove the car home to Indiana, loaded it with suitcases,
and made two trips to NYC.  (That is a 3,000 mile test drive done for Dr. Ron).
She then realized that parking in the Big Apple costs $400 per month,
and so put it up for sale…  Another home run.

Grandpa’s Florida Nissan

3 01 2009

Only 68,000 miles on ten year old car.

2000 Nissan Maxima GLE, 73,000 miles, $6,000.

Dr Ron’s client needed a car for his mother down in Florida,
so we found this cool senior citizen’s Nissan Maxima.
"One Senior’s trash is another’s treasure"

"Dear Ron,

My 94-year-old mother in Florida had an old Volvo 850
that her aides have used to get her to doctor appts and shopping.
It has effectively died.
So we have to make a decision about whether to replace it or not.
If not, then she has to take taxis to physicians
(cabs are expensive down there)
and we impose on the aides to use their own cars on occasions.
If we buy a used vehicle, we don’t want to spend much since she may live for years
(her sister died at 103) and should not outlive her money.
Repair on the Volvo would have run to $7000, obviously not the way to go.
Can you search for cars in Florida?
My brother will be there for an already scheduled visit on Nov 6,
so he could buy it when he arrives.
We aren’t looking for luxury, just reliability.
Maybe a Toyota or Honda.

My Accord is doing fine, and Daniela’s Forester has had no problems.

"Hello, Ron –

Here’s a little history which should answer the questions you asked.
I’m in my 70’s, my daughter (who moved to Florida)
and I jointly bought a home in West Boca in late 2007.
This car has a clean Carfax, it’s never been in an accident
or needed any body repair except I had the dull headlight covers re-finished.

I recently moved in MA to a condo.
I have two cars, so I’m bringing one — a 2005 Mini with 26,000 miles — to FL,
which is why I’m selling the Nissan.
The car is maintained in a garage in W. Boca.
I was in FL last week and was hoping to sell it, but it didn’t happen.
Now I’m back in MA.

I can possibly have my daughter show it to you, but
I’d like to know more about you
and get a better sense of your interest level before I ask her to do that.
Please tell me where you live and what you do.

I’ve attached a few pictures.

Dave"

3 01 2009

27,000 Grandma miles.

2007 Ford Focus SE. 27,000 miles. $6,000. Automatic, CD, MP3.

This car was priced below wholesale.
There is only one other car on this page that shares this noble distinction.
Even the attorney placing the online ad knew it was cheap, so she wrote:

"2007 Ford Focus SE, 4 door Sedan (ESTATE SALE) only 27k miles,
Clean inside and out, runs well. The 1st $6,000 takes it.
4 cyl, Auto, Airbags, ABS, Power everything. Grandma’s Car."

Only Driven 1,000 Miles Per Year!

3 01 2009

4,000 mile Dodge Stratus, 33 mpg, $5,900.

2000 DODGE STRATUS.
I found this 2000 Dodge in 2003 for my mother-in-law.
It was 4 yrs old and had 4,000 miles.
In the 6 years since, she has driven it 90,000 miles and had zero problems.
The car is so reliable she is giving it to her grandson,
and just had Dr. Ron buy her a 2004 minivan
Check out her testimonial that talks about why this way of buying and owning a car
is better than the old way of leasing or financing.
She says that “Even though Dr. Ron is a terrible son-in-law,
he sure knows how to buy cars!”

Just What the Dr. Ordered

2 01 2009

2.4 liter 25,000 miles $5000.

1999 Plymouth Breeze 2.4.

Way back in 2004 before gas prices spiked and the market crashed,
Dr. Barzideh knew he needed a fuel efficient economical car
to drive to surgery in the city so he could leave the Lexus at home.
Today this car has almost 80,000 tough
Long Island
and Brooklyn miles on it and is still running strong.

PT Schmoozer

2 01 2009

37,000 Miles, 5 Speed Stick Shift, $5,500.

2003 PT CRUISER CLASSIC.  New tires and battery.
Garaged in Connecticut by original owner since new.
We bought this like new car from the meticulous retired owner
who tracked the car’s fuel economy for the last 7 years.
No rust, no scratches, and averaged about 6,000 miles a year on it.

Diego and Courtney went to pick up the car in CT.
Their trades are film direction and product development,
and their other car is a new Scion Xb,
so they know a tasteful, economical car when they see one.
"37,000 miles for $5,500?  We need to go buy this car Dr. Ron."
"We love the fold flat back seat and the stick shift."

Dr Ron likes PT Cruisers for a number of reasons:
They are front wheel drive wagons with easy access and a fold flat rear seat.
They have a durable Mitsubishi 4 cylinder engine, and a fun retro hot rod design
They are bargains.

Schmoozer II

2 01 2009
45,000 miles, 30 mpg, $4,900.

2002 PT CRUISER LTD. LEATHER, MOONROOF, SIDE AIR BAGS, 6 CD CHANGER.
Bought from a delightful woman from Cummington MA.
Harriette says: “I fill it up with paintings, and drive it between CT and MA every day.”

Dr. Carfinder says “While gas prices are crazy, we live in a golden age of car buying
when you can get 4 airbags, anti-lock breaks, leather and a moon-roof for under $5,000."

Grandpa’s Buick

1 01 2009

38,000 miles, 30 mpg, $4,700.

2001 BUICK CENTURY LTD.  Leather, Climate Control and Traction Control.  Seats six.

Driven by Grandpa in California for 8 years.
When I called about this car,
the seller in Boston told me that her elderly father
had just shipped it East from California so he could live closer to the family.
But when she saw him drive, she realized it was time to ask for the keys.

The new owner, Sam said: "We are loving the car. Thanks Dr. Ron.  You rock!"
